Saturday Course
Introduction to Jewellery Making
Introduction to Jewellery Making (24946 ) is a course offered through TAFE PLUS and is for people who wish to pursue jewellery production as a recreational activity, although wishing to do so at a high professional skills level. This course will suit people who would like to investigate if jewellery production could be a future employment pursuit.
The course gives an introduction to basic hand skills and students will learn to use the piercing saw, bench drill, micro motor and gain skills in filing, soldering and polishing. The primary objective of the program is to acquire these skills through the manufacture of finely crafted items. By the end of the course the students will have designed and made at least one major sterling silver jewellery item, which can be worn or become a unique hand held object (this is not a course in beading and wirework).
